The Obligatory 100 Things

1.   1973 is the year of my birth.

2.   I was born in Decatur, Georgia.

3.   I was raised in Arlington, Texas.

4.   I’ve also lived in Macon, GA, and Tampa, FL (yuck and yuck).

5.   I am half country girl and half city slicker.

6.   I am comfortable in boots and jeans, on a horse or mucking a stable.

7.   I am just as comfortable wearing heels and pearls and shopping in Neiman Marcus.

8.   If I could live anywhere, I’d like to live in North Carolina – they have mountains, beaches, big cities and farmland.

9.   We would have moved there, but it’s been taken over by the half-backers (Damnyankees who moved to Florida, couldn’t hack the summers, and went halfway back).

10. If I were filthy rich, I’d summer at a country house in Vermont and a beach house on Amelia Island, FL; I’d winter in the Georgia heartland on a horse farm; and I’d have an apartment in Manhattan.

11.   I have very pretty blue eyes.

12. They’re real.

13.  And, yes, those are real too.

14. Sometimes I hate being the pretty All-American girl.

15.  I’d like to look more exotic.  Oh well…

16.   …although I am 1/8 Cherokee Indian, I look like my English and Scotch-Irish ancestors.

17. I have never done drugs.

18.   I didn’t drink until I was 21.

19.   I’ve never lived on my own.

20. Sometimes I regret that.

21. My parents are still married.

22. I have one younger sister and one younger brother.

23.  I hate my sister’s husband.

24. I married my best friend.

25. I hate his mother.

26.  She hates me even more.

27.  I don’t have many friends.

28.  I am very picky.

29. I don’t waste my time with people who are different from me.

30.   I’m not intolerant.

31. I just prefer to spend my time with people share my interests, politics, and values.

32.  I’ve never had a best friend of the female persuasion.

33.  I don’t get along with women very well.

34.  It’s because they’re all jealous, ha ha!

35. I’ve always been a third-wheel, or someone’s back-up best friend.

36.  Sometimes I think it might be nice to have a best friend who was a girl like me.

37. We have two canine children – Alex is a female Corgi/sled dog mix and Dexter is a male terrier/beagle mix.

38.   We would never ever leave them behind in a natural disaster.

39.  We are not childless – we are child-free!

40.  Which is funny because all I ever wanted to be growing up was a mother.

41. If I had to work, I wanted to be a teacher, a meteorologist, a pilot or an architect.

42. Instead, somehow, I became a paralegal.

43. I decided not to go to law school because I came to despise attorneys.

44.    I really don’t know what I want to be.

45.    I am planning to start a home organization business.

46.    I love to organize and clean – I am a neatfreak.

47.   I still want to go back to college.

48.  I love to learn…now.

49.   I hated all my classes in school, except for history.

50.  I love history, especially Texas history, Civil War history, and Tudor/Stuart English history.

51.   I liked band, too.

52.   I played the French horn, trumpet, and twirled flags.

53.  High school marching band was the best time of my life.

54.  I’m a loser, baby.

55. I still love watching marching bands.

56.  I am not athletic.

57. I am very clumsy.

58. I am a perfectionist.

59.   I am a chronic obsessive-compulsive worrier.

60.   I used to be on medication for it.

61. The medicine made me an aggressive, chubby zombie.

62.  I’m committed to trying to work through my problems without medication.

63. Therapists suck.  Why pay someone tell me what I already know or listen to my troubles?

64. That’s what this blog is for!

65.  I went skydiving when I turned 30.

66.   When I turn 40, I am going to drive a stock car.

67.  I love to travel (new places!).

68.   And I hate to travel (the hassle!).

69.   I love the beach.

70.   I love dolphins.

71. I hate jellyfish.

72. I love horses.

73. I love dogs.

74. I hate cats.

75. I want to be a vegetarian.

76. But I love meat.

77. I love to eat.

78.  I hate to cook.

79. I love clothes. 

80. I hate shopping.

81. I love make-up and products.

82. Even though I hardly ever use them.

83. I love to read.

84. I love to sleep.

85. I love college football.

86. I hate the NFL.

87. I love anything “classic” and antique.

88. I hate anything trendy or hip, especially people.

89. I love cars.

90. I hate driving.

91. I love people who tell it like it is.

92. I hate lying.

93. I hate hypocrisy.

94. I hate extremists…of any kind.

95. I am fiscally conservative.

96. I am socially moderate.

97. I hate that people don’t realize that liberal progressivism is the same thing as socialism or communism.

98. I hate that most people think “Christian” when they think “conservative.”

99. I love my country.

100. I hate that it’s gone down the toilet.
